Lisabeth, a native New Mexican, moved to Utah to attend Brigham Young University where she earned her Bachelor’s in Clinical Psychology. During that time, she had the opportunity to work with elementary-aged children who experienced both behavioral and autistic spectrum disorders. While vacillating between law school and pursuing a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling, Lisabeth worked for the House of Hope, an organization that provides substance use disorder treatment to women in helping them reclaim their lives by promoting both individualistic and family growth and was inspired to pursue her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling. Lisabeth has gained experience working with children, adolescents, and adults, with a specific focus on adolescents. Her training in various modalities allows flexibility to approach a variety of disorders: Conduct Disorders, Oppositional Defiant Disorders, PTSD, Adoption and Reactive Attachment Disorders, Substance Abuse, and Mood and Anxiety Disorders.
Lisabeth believes in peeling away the layers and masks that people adopt as a result of life experiences through the power of vulnerability and compassion and as such, encourages and guides clients to re-establish self-authenticity. Her training in various modalities allows ability to adjust in meeting her clients’ individual needs which include EMDR certified and training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialetical Behavior Therapy (DBT), ACT therapy, Sand Play Therapy, Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing, dual disorders, domestic violence, and addictions.
Lisabeth’s stance on life and in therapy is taken from Robert Frost’s quote, “The best way out is always through”. She considers it a privilege to join others in their therapeutic journey and finds Eva Carlston’s team approach to be invigorating, empowering, and conducive to healing the heart and soul. She looks forward to assisting young women in discovering their inherent potential, securing healthy relationships with their families, and solidifying their heightened confidence as they write their future!
In her spare time, Lisabeth enjoys spending quality time with her husband and her pup, Odin, traveling, shopping, cooking/baking, and expanding her culinary palette.
