Sydney Haga, therapist at Eva Carlston Academy

CMHC - Therapist

Sydney, a Utah native, received her bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Utah and a Master Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Westminster College. Sydney embarked on her career in the mental health industry as a direct care staff in a residential treatment program. While there, she developed a passion for working with adolescents and a “boots on the ground” understanding of students’ everyday lives.

Throughout her career, Sydney has worked in a variety of settings, including general outpatient, day treatment, intensive outpatient, and residential treatment. Sydney has expertise in working with complex clients who present a wide range of diagnoses, traits and behaviors. She is particularly seasoned and skilled treating clients and their families, as a whole, throughout their discovery and healing process. She excels at providing our students with an integrated and individualized approach, beginning with person-centered therapy and utilizing modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution-focused, Motivational Interviewing, Seeking Safety, family systems, trauma-informed care, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Sydney enjoys building a strong therapeutic alliance with her students and helping them translate that trust and acceptance to those around them. “I feel honored to help students discover their worth and the merit of developing healthy coping skills and healthy relationships.”

In her free time Sydney loves to spend time with family and friends, enjoying the beautiful mountains of Utah, attending Utah Jazz games, Broadway performances, and concerts.
