At Eva Carlston Academy, our staff members each bring unique perspectives, passions, and expertise to their work with students. While we often highlight our team’s insights through interviews or informative posts, we also value giving our staff a voice to share their own stories. The Roots of a Calling

From a young age, I knew I wanted to help people. I’ve always believed that when people come together to support one another, even small efforts can reduce suffering. My inspiration to work with adolescent girls comes from witnessing the intensity of emotions they experience during their development. I wanted to be part of helping them navigate the “mud” and come to understand themselves better.

My Approach to Therapy

My philosophy and approach to therapy are rooted in authenticity and patience. Building trust is a cornerstone of the process because the roles we play in the lives of these girls and their families are both significant and meaningful. Trust isn’t something that happens overnight—it’s earned over time, and it lays the foundation for true healing and growth.

What I Love About ECA

One of the most fulfilling aspects of my work at Eva Carlston Academy is the extraordinary collaboration and teamwork among staff. The passion and dedication of my colleagues inspire me every day, and it’s deeply rewarding to see how everyone’s efforts come together to support the students and their families.

Understanding the Challenges of Adolescence

Adolescent girls face a wide range of challenges, but one that stands out to me is self-acceptance. Many of our girls carry the weight of unacceptance from social media, societal expectations, and even peers. This can leave them feeling overwhelmed and unsure of their place in the world. What they need most is acceptance from their caregivers. That sense of unconditional support creates a feeling of safety and security, which is essential for their emotional development.

My Vision for Mental Health

If I could make a change, I would advocate for more accessible mental health programs in every state. These programs would be designed to meet the unique needs of adolescents and their families, offering them the support they need to thrive.

A Passion for Exploration

Outside of work, my personal passion is kayaking. I love exploring serene bodies of water—it gives me a profound sense of peace and solace. That spirit of exploration also influences my professional life. Whether I’m planning my next kayaking trip or diving into research on a new therapeutic modality, I’m constantly curious and eager to learn. This drive to explore and grow helps me bring fresh perspectives and energy to my work with students.

Being part of Eva Carlston Academy allows me to combine my passion for helping others with my love of learning and collaboration. It’s a privilege to walk alongside our students as they discover their own strengths and begin to see the possibilities ahead of them.
